Description
An unusual grey fox is hunted into the little Devon valley of Ravenscoombe, bringing with it a series of misfortune which old Tacky Bowden attributes to the traditional bad luck associated with foxes of that colour.
The efforts to rid the valley of the animal draw together the fortunes of Tacky, a lonely ex-farmer; Clegg Granger, a newcomer to farming; and Josh Huccaby, the local landowner and Master of the hunt.
Kenneth Ansell has a small farm on the edge of Dartmoor where he lives with his wife and family. Now in his eighties, Ken rides regularly and still does his share in the stable yard. The author treats his subject with the realism and frankness which stems from an intimate knowledge of farming and country life, and the book is illustrated with his own drawings of wildlife and hunting scenes.
Kenneth is also the author of two other Filament titles, Pendogget’s Mare and The Horse Traders.
