Description
Minster Tales is a delightful book which takes you back in time to meet some of the personalities and characters who have been associated with the Croydon Minster over the centuries.
The book is full of hidden tales of Croydon Minster that locals may not know, such as the Mustard Maker’s Tale, heir to the family who owned the first mustard making factory in London whose business was later acquired by Colman’s, as well as the tale of the bookseller, the oldest shopkeeper in Croydon.
As well as black & white photographs of the church, and an interior map, the book contains ‘Did you know?’ facts.
Author David Morgan was born in Lowestoft, Suffolk but spent his years of study and teaching in South London. Recently retired after a successful 12-year headship in Croydon, David is now able to spend more time writing, researching local history and singing in the Croydon Minster choir. He leads tours of the church and the Whitgift Almshouses.
