Are authors being replaced by AI?

It is unsettling, to put it mildly, for authors to be confronted by the next generation of Artificial Intelligence, which appears to be capable of creating well-written copy in seconds, that would have normally taken a talented author probably an hour to create. The really annoying thing is that, by and large, the quality of the copy is quite acceptable. Is this the end of authors as we know them? It is yet another profession to be taken over by robots. Is an entire industry about to vanish before our eyes?
In the 1930s, concerns arose when paperback books were introduced that they would mark the end of hardback books. Almost 100 years later, this has proven not to be the case. In fact, over those years we have added many new formats, like eBooks, but all the other have remained. We have found new ways and formats to deliver words to meet the growing number of preferences.

But AI is not a new format, it is a very efficient way of processing a vast amount of information, which we give it, and analysing and repackaging it in new ways. Can it be trusted? How authentic is the information?

If you visit any of the social media platforms, you do not have to search for long to find fake news and misleading information. You can’t blame AI for this. There are hordes of people worldwide who have agendas to promote and a vested interest in trying to put across their point of view. What can you trust and what can you not?

With books, there is a simple way to know what is inside the cover. That is the author’s name. As a professional author, your name should stand for quality and integrity. Your track record will speak for itself. Your words will mean something.

That is why it is important for you to promote your author brand, your values and your integrity. People buy people.

In a fast-changing world there will always be those get rich quick individuals who think that using AI is a quick and cheap way of fooling the reader, and getting them to part with their money. But not you.

Your passion and enthusiasm will shine through in your writing, bringing authenticity to your work.

I believe that Authors will remain to be respected and recognised for their knowledge, creativity and authenticity.

What you have is special. Beware of imitations!
